Michelle Skene

As a vital part of Active’s Executive Leadership Team, Michelle brings her financial and information management expertise. She has many years of experience in both the private and public sectors, ranging from policy advice to specialised financial reporting and modelling. Michelle takes great pride in being able to use her skill set to keep driving Active forward.

Michelle began her professional career in Canberra in the public sector as a policy officer, before moving to Brisbane and commencing study for a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy). She excelled in her study, earning the Dean’s Award for Excellence. On completion of her studies, she joined Queensland Treasury as an accountant, before moving to the State Actuary’s Office where she worked as an actuarial officer for 8 years. We were privileged to have Michelle join us at Active after 10 years at Queensland Treasury.

Creating innovative solutions to streamline and support financial and reporting processes is one of Michelle’s great strengths. She has a particular passion for spreadsheets and imparting knowledge and skills to the team, always keen to learn and grow and help others to do the same. Michelle responds to requests in a positive and highly approachable manner and was awarded the Active Spirit Award in 2018 in recognition of this attribute.

Michelle loves to spend time with her husband, sharing a passion for driving holidays on the eastern seaboard to visit family, friends and great restaurants. She is a movie and theatre fan and can often been seen at the end of the day preparing to go out to the latest show or restaurant.
